Step 1: Be a Traditional Notary

To become an online notary, you must first hold a current commission as a traditional notary public in the state of Missouri. If you are not already commissioned as a traditional notary public, you can learn more about how to apply on the Secretary of State’s website.


Step 2: Obtain a Digital Certificate

  • Select your desired certificate validity period (prices vary)
  • Complete the order


Step 3: Register with the Secretary of State
  • Complete an approved RON training course and pass the exam.
  • After you’ve successfully completed a RON training course and passed the exam, Click Here to complete the registration documents (listed under Electronic Notary) for your Online Notary Public Commission.
  • Email your registration and other documentation to [email protected]. Don’t forget to include the name of your selected RON technology provider.
