Back in 2018, we set out to add remote online notarization to one of our businesses. We didn't want to build it, we wanted to partner with someone who already had.
At the time, only a handful of RON platforms existed. We worked through them one by one. The workflows felt clunky and poorly thought out. Support was essentially non-existent, with multiple attempts to reach sales teams going unanswered. Many of those platforms aren't even around anymore.
So with as much caffeine as motivation, we started building our own.
That frustration turned out to be the best thing that could have happened. Because we'd lived through the bad version, we knew exactly what a good version looked like - responsive support, thoughtful workflows, and a notarization experience designed around the actual humans on both sides of the screen: the business sending the document, and the customer signing it.
That's still how we build today.
